High-frequency ESR spectroscopy

Electron spin resonance spectroscopy provides valuable information on the dynamic magnetic properties of materials. It is based on the absorption of microwave radiation - our experiment covers the range 30 GHz - 1.2 THz - by materials exposed to external magnetic fields. It provides a variety of information on different classes of magnetic materials, such as:

  • Spin states and spin structure
  • Magnetic anisotropy
  • Magnetic interaction
  • Spin dynamics
  • Lattice dynamics
  • Low-energy excitations
  • Local crystal fields
  • Spin-orbit coupling
