Quantum Magnetism and Electronic Correlation (MVCMP3)

The module comprises a 2 h lecture with biweekly tutorials (4 CP).

Important:

  • 1st week: neither lecture nor tutorials
  • 2nd week: Both on Tue and Thu lecture
  • 3rd week: tutorial (Thu) and lecture (Tue)
  • 4th week: lecture on Thu (as usual)

Lecture dates:

  • 21.4. (KIP, SR 2.404)
  • 23.4. (PI INF 226, EG, Goldbox)
  • 28.4. (KIP SR 2.404)
  • 7.5. (KIP HS2, i.e., the usual time and location)
  • ...

Objectives:

  • To learn about the importance of electron correlations for modern materials science.
  • To understand the meaning of quatum fluctuations and its impact on the evolution of ordered states.
  • To learn about principles of advanced experimental methods and their interpretation.
  • To understand the basic concepts to treat quantum many particle systems and its implications.
  • To apply this knowledge to understand and to assess modern research trends in the field of "quantum materials".
  • To understand relevance for applications
