Functionalization of metal oxides by self-assembled monolayers
Metal oxides such as the transparent indium doped tin oxide (ITO) or the high work function material MoO3 are often used as electrode or electrode modifying materials in organic electronic devices. Dipolar self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) can be used to adapt the electronic and morphological properties of metal oxides to the requirements in functional devices. However, not only the work function but also the surface energy can be tuned by tailoring the molecular structure of the interface modifier. Tasks within this work will be the preparation of metal oxide layers and their functionalization with newly developed SAMs in our cleanroom environment as well as measurements with different spectroscopic techniques.
