Abstract (de)

Abstract (en)

In this work charge transfer in organic semiconductors was investigated by means of in-situ infrared spectroscopy. N-type doping of 4,4’-Bis(N-carbazolyl)-1,1’-biphenyl (CBP) with Cs2CO3 and p-type doping of N,N’-Di-[(1-naphthyl)-N,N’-diphenyl]-1,1’- biphenyl)-4,4’-diamine (a-NPD) with Molybdenum-tris[1,2-bis(trifluoromethyl)ethane-1,2- dithiolene] (Mo(tfd)3) were studied. Infrared spectra of doped layers show new absorption bands, which by comparison with results of quantum chemical calculations can be attributed to charged molecules. A broad electronic excitation in the near infrared range occurring in the spectra of doped layers of a-NPD and the dependency of its excitation energy on the used dopant indicate the formation of charge transfer complexes. Also in the vibrational spectra of thin films of CBP and a-NPD on MoO3, the formation of charged molecules is observed. The number of cations formed at the interface and its dependency on the total layer thickness was revealed by a quantitative analysis of the spectra and compared to measured potential profiles. The IR spectra of the inverted interface give hints to a diffusion of the deposited MoO3 into the organic layer. The cations formed at the interface differ from cations formed in doped layers in their vibrational spectra and the appearance of an electronic excitation.
