FingFang connects the blind and visually impaired to the digital world. As a technology transfer project from the Kirchhoff-Institute for Physics the FingFang team develops hard- and software solutions to facilitate easy and discrete communications for the blind and people with onset visual impairments.
FingFang is a compact bidirectional communications device (allowing for in- and output) that effortlessly connects to and attaches to any standard smartphone. Braille symbols are typed and received with with the fingertips, which enclose the device in a way resembling the six-dot pattern of Braille letters. All text input and output to and from the smartphone can be facilitated by the device.
Additionally, an app ecosystem is developed. This includes an app to teach Braille in a gamified manner with our device to people without any prior knowledge.
