Heidelberg Student Days of the Department of Physics and Astronomy

Physics of the Brain

Room: INF 308, HS2

This course covers the functional principle of the human brain from a physics point of view. On the one hand, you will learn about experimental and analysis methods used to better understand the structure and functionality of neural circuits. On the other, physical models of the underlying mechanisms are presented and explained.

The course consists out of four single talks, each given by another professor representing a somewhat different subfield of brain functionality researches.

  • Mo: Prof. Dr. Karlheinz Meier - 'Physics of Brain Computation'
  • Tue: Prof. Dr. Winfried Denk / Dr. Johann Bollmann - 'Neuroimaging Methods'
  • Thu: Prof. Dr. Fred A. Hamprecht - 'Image Analysis: Reconstructing Neural Circuits'
  • Fri: Prof. Dr. Heinz Horner - 'Principles of Neural Data Processing'     Material
