Heidelberg Student Days 2013 of the Department of Physics and Astronomy

Physics of Photography - From pinholes to CMOS sensors

Dr. Niklaus Berger

Room: INF 227, 1.404

The course will discuss some of the physical principles of photography and how they are linked to the aesthetics of the resulting picture. We will have a look at how the optics of lenses determine sharpness, depth of field, vignettes etc. and how modern sensors turn light into a digital picture. There will be a hands-on session, so bring camera(s), especially if you own something exotic.
