Public outreach is an important and necessary aspect of scientific work. Both, the public presentation of our specific research in public media as well as of basic general physics play a role. Working with media is very constructive and pleasant. In more than 30 years there has been one single exception.

Fun with Physics Movies

I am author and actor of approx. 70 short movies about physics phenomena. The movie series has ben initiated by the university broadcast Campus TV. Only 90 seconds ('one-and-a-half minutes') are given to the film makers to present a topic. All movies follow a simple concept : Starting from a physics experiment, a short portrait of a physicist is presented and the movie ends with a link to modern technology. The movies are directed to laymen. They should not be used to educate physics students as they put emphasis on simplicity at the cost of details.
