Beschreibung

The Experimental Particle Physics group (Prof. Schultz-Coulon) of the Kirchhoff-Institute for Physics (KIP) at Heidelberg University is offering a position as

Postdoctoral Research Associate (Physicist) with the ATLAS Experiment
(TV-L EG 13)

The group at KIP is strongly involved in the analysis of ATLAS data and shares major responsibility for the operation, the upgrade and the optimization of the ATLAS Level-1 Calorimeter Trigger (L1Calo). The analysis activities are focused on the search for Physics Beyond the Standard Model using jet-based signatures as well as the investigation of rare electroweak processes. The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in at least one of the above areas, i.e. L1Calo trigger operations and/or data analysis. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree in physics and should have indepth research experience in high energy particle physics.

The appointment will be initially for a period of two years, with the possibility of an extension. Qualified candidates are requested to submit their application, including a curriculum vitae, a brief description of their research experience and interests, and a list of the most relevant publications to Prof. Schultz-Coulon at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, Kirchhoff-Institut für Physik, Im Neuenheimer Feld 227, 69120 Heidelberg – or preferably via e-Mail to coulon@kip.uni-heidelberg.de – and to arrange for at least two recommendation letters to be sent directly to the same address. Applications will be considered as they arrive and will be accepted until September 30, 2020.

Heidelberg University aims at increasing the percentage of women in academic positions and strongly encourages female scientists to apply.

Heidelberg University is an equal opportunity employer and, thus, particularly welcomes applications from persons with disabilities.
