Fr 11:15 - 13:00, SR 2.404
        Kirchhoff-Institut, INF 227
        Hans-Christian Schultz-Coulon

The focus of the lecture are experimental tests revealing the  properties of the fundamental particles and their interactions. Although the emphasis is put on the experiments the lecture also tries to motivate the theoretical  foundations of particle physics and tries to give "phenomenological" derivations of the  necessary formulae. Some of the topics discussed will be
  • Experimental Foundations of Particle Physics
  • Electrodynamics of Quarks and Leptons
  • Testing Quark-Quark Interactions
  • The Structure of the Nucleon
  • Electroweak Unification
  • Neutrino Oszillations
  • Hunting for the Higgs
  • The Standardmodel and Beyond
The course is part of the Graduate School "Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology". It is  recommended for diploma and doctoral students in experimental and theoretical particle physics. The series continues with a course on the "Standard Model of particle physics" in fall 2003.
