Titel
3 PhD positions in the field of neuromorphic computing
Beschreibung

We have immediate openings for 3 PhD positions in the research group working on neuromorphic computing.

The group carries out research on novel information processing systems that represent electronic physical models of neural circuits. The research is aimed at emulating principles of information processing found in biology and at a transfer of these principles to a more biologically grounded approach to artificial intelligence.

Specifically, successful candidates will design, set up and run experiments on the BrainScaleS system currently operated as part of the EU funded Human Brain Project. Possible experiments include stochastic computation, reverse-engineered neural microcircuits, pattern detection in the space and time domain and multi-agent systems. Successful research requires a broad technical skill set including the use and further development of large software packages, an understanding of analog and digital electronic signal processing and the ability to work with a complex experimental set-up. A strong interest in contributing to tool development as well as the dedication to achieve ground-breaking research results in a novel approach to information processing are required.

Candidates should hold an M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in physics or related fields with very good grades. Fluency in both, spoken and written English is required.

Application can be submitted via https://www.kip.uni-heidelberg.de/vision/jobs/apply-for-phd/ The offer will be open until all positions are filled. The offer has been published on 13 July 2018.

Heidelberg University has the strong intention to increase the number of women amongst its academic personnel and expressly encourages qualified women to apply. Preference will be given to disabled applicants with equal qualifications.
