KIP provides a dynamic and diverse environment for the training of undergraduate and graduate students. In particular, we offer upper-level undergraduate training programmes in the framework of bachelor and master theses as well as PhD theses, consisting of practical research training, courses, workshops, and multidisciplinary research projects. We are looking for highly motivated individuals. People will be actively involved in in an international high-level scientific environment and trained. Please cf. open positions @ KIP. If you are interested in joining the CMM group, please cf. our research fields.

Bachelor and Master Topics

Our ongoing research activities always generate interesting and challenging research topics which can be addressed in the frame of graduating. You will be trained by means of targeted research on an up-to-date problem of current solid state research. For further information about possible research topics please contact us. Our research fields with open topics:

  • Materials for Li-ion batteries
  • Magneto-elastic coupling in multiferroics and quantum antiferromagnets
  • Electron-Spin-Resonance-Spectroscopy
  • Investigation of individual nanoscale magnets

Current open topics

  • Literature review and analysis on Fe-based superconductors (B.Sc.)
  • Nanomagnets for biomedical applications (B.Sc.)
  • Nanoscaled materials for Li-ion batteries (B.Sc.)
  • Magneto-elastic coupling in quantum antiferromagnets (B.Sc.)
  • Nanoscaled materials for Li-ion batteries (M.Sc.)
  • Magneto-elastic coupling in quantum antiferromagnets (M.Sc.)
  • High field/high frequency Electron-Spin-Resonance-Spectroscopy (M.Sc.)
  • Magnetization studies on molecular magnets (M.Sc.)
  • Growth of novel single crystals (M.Sc.)

PhD Topics

The University of Heidelberg runs an ambitious PhD program which combines outstanding basic science education with training in state-of-the-art experimental techniques. The PhD works which we offer are mainly in the field of physics, but there are also topics in the fields of materials sciences, chemistry and electrical engeneering (cf. list of open PhD positions). Usually, open positions evolve from our daily research activities and are filled on the short term. We therefore invite applicants at any time to submit their CV and a description of their research interests to Prof. R. Klingeler.

  • Thermal expansion and magnetostriction studies

Post Doc positions

In several projects we offer Post Doc positions for usually 2 - 3 years in which experienced scientists can join our research activities.
